The Brick - 20 YEARS ON!

This year we have celebrated our 20th anniversary of the company in its present form. I can
hardly believe that I bought a majority holding in the company and started work here as long
ago as 1988. In the early days the focus was entirely on building a factory fit for human
habitation. The welfare of the excellent workforce, not only in the welfare services area but
also in the workplace itself, took top priority. Our strategy from day one was to convert the
factory into a good facility for the production of handmade bricks and related products.

This was due to the fact that the clamp bricks, which were widely used throughout the Vale of York and this region, were no
longer available nor indeed had been since the mid 60s. Up to the time we began, the majority of the demand was being met by imported bricks but they are unable to give the flexibility in size and a colour blend which is essential for good restoration, extension or conversion workwhich is now one of the major areas of demand from customers as well as planners.
